What your "significant other" says
about YOU on-line ...

Let's get this straight from the start. My wife is
very supportive of my working and making a living on the Internet...
now. But, it hasn't always been that easy for her.
There's a big difference between trying to make a
living on the Internet and actually doing it, so it helps that she
has figured out that no one in their right mind would hire me to work
for them. It also helps that she now gets a couple of regular checks
(hers and mine) from my company. (just like a real job!)
Every week I get e-mails that talk about what rip-offs
certain sites or programs are or complain about how only the "gurus" make
any money on-line. The truth is that almost every one of those "gurus"
started out just the way you are now and probably knew as little or less
than you know at this stage in your life when they started out.
So, people keep asking me why I am making a living
when they can't! Believe me, my wife told me that I couldn't
when I started out, so I can imagine what your spouse is telling you
right now, if you haven't brought in a steady stream of checks.
Number one, it helped that I was out of work when I
started. My former boss was nice enough to give me a couple months
warning that I wasn't going to have a job, so I did get to prepare a little,
but starting on day one after I left my regular job, I had to make money.
My wife likes regular paychecks and I like my wife
happy, so failing was not an option. When I started I probably only
had a month's reserves and I needed a profit right away. Somehow, I made it
work. I used the skills that I had and lots of sweat equity and I
managed a check every month that covered the basic bills.
Then I decided to test out a theory (Ok, it was more a
thought than a theory.) that I had when I was sitting there one day trying
to figure out a way to not have to worry whether I was going to make it next
month. My thought was that instead of adding one or two people a day
to my newsletter that I would try to work with someone that already had a
large subscriber base that trusted them.
That lead to a simple e-mail to Jim Daniels of
BizWeb2000.com fame ...

I've read your newsletter for years and followed the progress of your
websites. You have contributed a lot to the "little people" of the
ever expanding world of the Internet. |
That simple e-mail eventually caused the creation of
AffiliateShowcase.com, a site that went as high as the top 2,000 sites
on the Internet according to Alexa.com. It also gave my wife a regular
paycheck and eased her mind a great deal. Jim Daniels was also very
happy with the results!
So, what did that teach me? It taught me that
there was a great deal of advantage in working with people who already had
the trust and respect of the people that they worked with and that it would
be more profitable for me to convince those people to partner with me than
it would be for me to try to build hundreds of thousands of individual
relationships one at a time.
Don't get me wrong, I do still build relationships one
at a time, but I look in particular for people who have the resources
that can compliment my own resources and for situations in which we can
leverage those resources to make the results exponential.
So what did I do for my
next
project? I partnered with even more people.

And what do those people do? They partner with
you on YOUR projects, so that you can move into the steady paycheck area,
just like I did.
Any way that you look at it, this is a great group of
people. Jim Daniels is not one to throw testimonials around and he called it
"Brilliant." That was really gratifying coming from someone like Jim.
Then a bunch of the other beta members started sending
me their comments. David Garfinkel said "It's a Web marketer's dream come
true." Chuck Mcullough called it a "killer resource" Jeremy Gislason said,
"It's like having my own Master Mind Club" and Gary Knuckles said it's "Very
easy!"
Then the actual results started coming in. Jim
Mitchell and Jack Humphrey all closed joint venture deals with top-level
marketers almost immediately. Those joint ventures resulted in some great
sales and exposure.
Now, my only problem is that I have so many great
projects that I don't know what to do first.
Ok, I let myself get all excited for a minute. (I find
it hard not to when the subject of
jvAlert
comes up. So, forget that project for a minute and take away the
lesson. It wasn't me that did such a wonderful job. All I
did is put together a group of top-notch people and give them an easy way to
work together. Realize that people working together can make something
bigger than what one person can do by themselves.
Put that into action and your spouse will have only
nice things to say about your work on the Internet and that paycheck will
have a lot more security in it.
